MDC Child and Adult Care Food Program

Reimbursement Rates:

  1. Their are two rates of reimbursement, Tier 1 and Tier 2. Your reimbursement rate is determined by the following factors:

  2. If the schools in your area have 50% or more participation in the Free and Reduced Meals program, you are Tier 1.

  3. If you live in an area where Census data shows 40-50% or more of the population falls below the poverty level, you are Tier 1.

  4. If your family's income is within the eligibility guidelines, you are Tier 1.

  5. If the families enrolled in your daycare's incomes are within the eligibility guidelines you are paid Tier 1 for the children that qualify based on income, and Tier 2 for children that do not qualify.

  6. If you do not qualify for Tier 1 by any of the above ways, you will be paid Tier 2.

The current rates of reimbursement are:

Breakfast.............$1.66         $0.51

Lunch/Dinner......$3.04         $1.59

Snacks..................$0.97         $0.20

Once you receive your license and enroll children in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), you are ready to begin claiming. We provide all of the training you need to be successful on our program. You have the choice to claim online using the free, easy, and user friendly KidKare program or you can submit written claims.

We support you every step of the way to make you successful by providing you with everything that you need, including:

  • Cash reimbursement for nutritious meals and snacks served in licensed in-home child cares, regardless of family income
  • Reimbursement for meals for provider’s own children also available, based on income eligibility​
  • There is no charge to participate
  • No software to purchase or download
  • Year-end tax statement​s to use for deductions
  • Parents know that you provide healthy foods that meet USDA guidelines
  • Home visits to assist with record keeping, menu planning, and providing valuable information about nutrition
  • Monthly newsletters filled with useful information for your daycare business
  • Recipes for kid-tested foods and menu ideas
  • Prompt and friendly service with support by phone, email, and in person. We have the staff with many years of childcare experience and nutrition education to help you succeed in your career choice to care for children!
  • Annual training, which will also earn you MERIT credits!
